Two weeks to go: ADA Flood & Water Conference 2025

In two weeks the ADA Flood & Water Conference 2025 will once again host members and officers of flood risk and water management authorities from across the United Kingdom. Over 200 delegates will hear from an eminent line-up of political and technical speakers to discuss the key policy topics of the moment on Tuesday 25 November.

The event, sponsored by Balfour Beatty and Wilkin Chapman Rollits, promotes ADA’s vision for flood risk management authorities working in partnership together, delivering effective services through good governance and strategic planning. It brings flood and water level management to the heart of government in Westminster, at One Great George Street.

This year we look forward to hearing from the following speakers at the event:

  • Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael MP
Chair, House of Commons EFRA Committee
  • David Hernández Gómez
Technical Manager, Spanish Federation of Irrigation Communities (FENACORE)
  • Lila Thompson
    Chief Executive Officer, British Water
  • David Porter
    President, Institution of Civil Engineers
  • Sebastian Catovsky
Co-Director of Floods & Water, Defra

About our international speaker

We are honoured to be joined at this year’s event by David Hernández Gómez from the Spanish Federation of Irrigation Communities (FENACORE). As Technical Manager at FENACORE, David helps to represents the Irrigation Communities of more than 700,000 irrigators and more than two million hectares across Spain.

David will give us an overview of the climatic pressures facing Spain, highlighted by recent droughts and the flash flooding that hit Valencia and other parts of Spain on 29 October 2024. With increasing competitive demands for water, David will stress the importance of modernisation in water management.

Topical discussion

The Conference is an important opportunity for delegates to discuss current affairs within the flood risk and water management sector.

Following each presentation our Chair, Robert Caudwell, will take a couple of questions from the audience about each speaker’s presentation.

At 15.30 there will be 45 minutes for delegates to pose topical questions to a panel of representatives from Defra, ADA, and risk management authorities. Questions can be submitted in advance as part of the delegate booking process on Eventbrite, with the aim of consolidating key subjects for discussion and questioning and to maximise the value of this session. On the day delegates can post questions using Slido from your phone or other device.
