ADA announces 81st Conference and Annual General Meeting 2018

ADA announces 81st Conference and Annual General Meeting 2018

ADA is delighted to announce that booking is now open for delegates wishing to attend our Annual Conference and AGM, which will take place on Wednesday 14th November 2018 at One Great George Street, Westminster, London.

Following on from last year’s sell-out event, the ADA Conference remains an essential event for the members and officers of flood and water level management authorities in the UK. It brings ADA’s members’ vital work to the heart of government. Keeping focus on our activities this year is especially important given the many other ongoing political distractions. So I look forward to seeing many ADA members there to champion your important work.

We are very pleased to confirm that Sue Hayman MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will be joining us to give this year’s keynote address. Sue has experienced flooding first hand in her constituency in Workington during the infamous Cumbria floods of 2015.

We are also delighted to announce our other guest speakers:

  • Sarah Hendry, Policy Director for Floods and Water, Defra
  • John Curtin, Executive Director of Flood and Coastal Risk Management, Environment Agency
  • Robert Hӧssen, an expert in crisis management, Veiligheidsregio Noord-Holland Noord, Netherlands

This year’s Conference will open from 09.00 with an opportunity to network between delegates, sponsors and ADA’s Associate Members, and see their displays. A light breakfast buffet will be available. The Association’s Conference will commence at 11.00 in the Thomas Telford Lecture Theatre with presentations from our guest speakers, followed by an open discussion forum, which gives delegates the opportunity to discuss the key policy issues of the moment affecting flood and water management authorities. We will conclude the Conference with ADA’s Annual General Meeting before lunch.

A two-course Conference Lunch will take place in the grand setting of the Great Hall at 14.00 and we expect that to conclude by 16.00.

Further details, including online booking, is available here. Delegate places are £120+VAT, and we would ask you to please book your places as early as possible to avoid disappointment, and at the latest by Monday 22nd October. We very much hope that you and your colleagues can join us on Wednesday 14th November.
