TCP ECO Joins ADA

TCP ECO is proud to announce that it has joined the Association of Drainage Authorities (ADA), marking an important milestone in its ongoing commitment to sustainable flood risk management and resilient watercourse operations across the UK.

By becoming a member, TCP ECO looks forward to working more closely with IDBs, local authorities and industry partners to address shared challenges including flood resilience, environmental protection and decarbonisation. This collaboration supports the delivery of essential drainage and flood defence activities while reducing environmental impact.

TCP ECO specialises in hydrogen fuel cell generators and advanced battery box systems designed for demanding infrastructure environments. These solutions are ideally suited to drainage, flood defence and watercourse maintenance projects requiring reliable off-grid power. Operating silently and producing zero emissions at the point of use, they enable critical work to continue while supporting carbon-reduction targets and minimising disruption to local communities and sensitive habitats.

TCP ECO also provides mobile hybrid lighting towers with integrated solar power. Combining solar generation, battery storage and hydrogen backup, these units deliver dependable illumination while significantly reducing fuel consumption and operating costs. The compact design ensures the systems remain easy to manoeuvre, deploy and transport between sites.

Critically for Internal Drainage Board operations, TCP ECO systems pose zero risk of fuel leakage or water contamination. Unlike diesel generators, hydrogen and battery-based solutions eliminate spill risks, making them safe for use alongside rivers, canals, pumping stations, tidal assets and drainage infrastructure. This allows flood risk management works to proceed while maintaining regulatory compliance and strong environmental stewardship.

TCP ECO has already supported several Environment Agency projects where reliability, innovation and sustainability were paramount. One example is the Tidal Barrier works in Bridgwater, Somerset, a critical flood defence asset. Led by Kier, the project uses solar power combined with green hydrogen backup to supply the site compound and offices, delivering lower emissions, reduced noise and the removal of diesel spill risks.

Another recent project supported flood defence works in Bewdley along the River Severn, where low noise operation was essential due to nearby residential properties. A diesel-free bubble curtain system was developed using a hybrid solution integrating solar PV, hydrogen fuel cells, battery storage and a plug-in mains connection, enabling continuous daytime and silent overnight operation.

Through projects like these, TCP ECO helps drainage authorities and contractors reduce diesel reliance, lower carbon emissions, operate safely in sensitive locations and maintain dependable power for critical flood defence activities. Membership of the ADA reinforces TCP ECO’s commitment to collaboration, innovation and sustainability, supporting resilient drainage infrastructure today and a lower carbon future for tomorrow.

As an ADA member, TCP ECO will continue investing in clean energy technologies, sharing best practice, and supporting members as they modernise operations, strengthen climate resilience, and deliver essential services efficiently, responsibly, and sustainably for communities, environments, and future generations nationwide, across the United Kingdom today.
