One month until ADA Conference 2018

One month until ADA Conference 2018

Preparations are ramping up ahead of next month’s 81st ADA Conference and AGM, which will take place on Wednesday 14th November 2018 at One Great George Street, Westminster, London.

Following on from last year’s sell-out event, the ADA Conference remains an essential event for the members and officers of flood and water level management authorities in the UK. It brings ADA’s members’ vital work to the heart of government. Keeping focus on our activities this year is especially important given the many other ongoing political distractions.

We are very pleased to confirm that Sue Hayman MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will be joining us to give this year’s keynote address. Sue has experienced flooding first hand in her constituency in Workington during the infamous Cumbria floods of 2015.

From The Netherlands we will be joined by Robert Hӧssen, an expert in crisis management at the VRNHN. The VRNHN is a government organisation that carries out fire and rescue, ambulance, and risk & crisis management on behalf of municipalities in North Holland. Robert will be giving an insight into how incident management is organised in The Netherlands and their “Multi Layered Safety Approach”.

We are also delighted to be joined by John Curtin, Executive Director of Flood and Coastal Risk Management at the Environment Agency, and a Defra spokesperson on flood and water management.

This year’s Conference will open from 09.00 with an opportunity to network between delegates, sponsors and see displays from ADA’s Associate Members. A light breakfast buffet will be available. The Association’s Conference will commence at 11.00 with presentations from our guest speakers, followed by an open discussion forum, which gives delegates the opportunity to discuss the key policy issues of the moment affecting flood and water management authorities.

A two-course Conference Lunch will take place in the grand setting of the Great Hall at 14.00 and we expect that to conclude by 16.00.

You can find further details about the ADA Conference and book online here. Delegate places are £120+VAT, and we would ask you to please book your places as early as possible to avoid disappointment, and at the latest by Monday 22nd October.
